Who is participating in Correctional Redevelopment?

The Corrections Action Plan and the Implementation Framework were approved by the Government of Yukon and the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) at the Yukon Forum on April 3, 2006.

In the summer of 2006, the Corrections Oversight Committee, co-chaired by the Yukon government and CYFN, was established to oversee the work undertaken by subcommittees. This work included the development of planning options for a new correctional centre and a strategic plan for correctional redevelopment.

The Strategic Plan was presented for approval at the Yukon Forum on December 8, 2006. The Plan identifies the need for the involvement of First Nations, non-government organizations, as well as government departments in many of the areas in the Plan. A major avenue for involvement is the Oversight Committee as well as sub-committees identified in the Correctional Redevelopment Process section.
