MEETINGS & EVENTS
Focus on Victims of Crime Conference
March 4-6, 2008
The Focus on Victims of Crime Conference brought together those who work with victims to learn, to network and to begin the work of developing a Victim Program Model. Conference sessions provided opportunity to examine ways to better respond to the needs of victims in the criminal justice system. Sessions allowed for a review some services currently offered, for presentation of new information and for learning and discussion opportunities.
Healing in Corrections Conference
September 24-26, 2007
The Healing in Corrections Conference provided an opportunity for participants to learn about the current trends in corrections administration and to take part in dialogue about what it means to implement "healing in corrections". The Conference program focused on bringing depth to "healing in corrections" and informed the planning process for the new correctional centre and the development of community corrections programming. The Conference was an important venue to further discuss the fundamental shift in the Department of Justice's approach to corrections.
