THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

What is the Corrections Oversight Committee's role and who is on the Oversight Committee?

The Oversight Committee is co-chaired by the Government of Yukon and the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN). Dennis Cooley, Deputy Minister, Department of Justice, is the Yukon government's co-chair and Chief Andy Carvill is the CYFN co-chair. The Committee oversees the work that is undertaken by three subcommittees to address the recommendations in the Corrections Action Plan.

Other members of the Oversight Committee are Liard First Nation (formerly represented by Jeannie Dendys and Daryl Stewart, current representative to be determined), Lloyd Caesar (representing Ross River Dena Council), and Kwanlin Dün First Nation (to be determined).
